In The Body (or stand by me) there is about 485 uses of f*ck plus uses of 167 sh*t, 28 p*ss, 2 c*nt, 8 c*cksucker, 6 mother*cker, 18 t*ts, fart, turd, tw*t, p*ssy, dick, Dildo, 33 a**hole and more.Īpt pupil has about 33 uses of f*ck, and other swears like sh*t, a**, and d*mn. The stories are terrific but there are several things to talk about. Hope you all enjoy this book and start your journey as a Constent Reader!Īlright, so I had just gotten this book and read it, and was amazed. Also after reading you can view the movies the Shawshank Redemption and Stand by Me. Overall, if you skip over Apt pupil and that one section of the Body and are ok with some cursing and minor violence this book ok should be ok for 12+. There may have been some alcohol/drug use but I don’t remember anything too bad. There is some cursing in times of stress but an almost constant use of curse words by the boys in the Body. There is only one sexual part of the book in the story written by adult Gordie in the Body, but this section is easily skipped. Apt pupil is about a student turned nazi murderer so I’d skip over that one. As for violence there is some prison violence mentioned, nothing to graphic, in the final story a woman’s head is decapitated in detail, mild reference to child abuse, a dead body and a court case involving murder. This is a great introduction to Kings vast universe. It was the first King book I had ever read and since I havnt stopped reading his books. Compared to the others it is also rather boring. The Breathing Method: I don't remember this as much, but it was definitely the tamest of the four. Several sexual references, some fairly graphic. Language is frequent and uttered typically by children. The Body: I didn't like this as much as the previous two, but it was still adequate. Sexual content is very graphic as well, with sexual intercourse occurring between teenagers and a dream sequence involving the rape within a concentration camp. There are several sequences of extreme violence, many dealt by a teenager. It details a teenage boy's descent into evil through his fascination with Nazism and the influence of his former Nazi neighbor. Language is pretty harsh too.Īpt Pupil: Very disturbing, but also very thought-provoking. Some graphic references to prison rape and pornographic films. The violence isn't overly graphic, but some parts are pushing it. Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption: Excellent and even heartwarming story of a man's escape from prison. This collection of four novella is very good, but also very graphic.
