The trails at this park are non-technical, cushy, and well-maintained it’s an excellent place to use your minimalist shoes, if you so desire. However, this State Park needs some love and maintenance. And the intertwining trail system allows for plentiful hiking options among the tall trees as a great urban escape. It's a terrific way to enjoy a sunset over the water. It is on the hilly side, with almost 275′ of elevation gain and is 0.9 miles long. The access to a sandy beach so close to the urban areas of South Sound is great. The course at Dash Point is about h alf singletrack and half road. This run has all the quintessential PNW sights: sandy beaches, and active wildlife. Walk north on 16th Ave S, east on S 250th St, south on 20th Ave S, and finally east on 252nd St. Otherwise head out to the east end of the park. Saltwater Park has its own small network of trails in its 80 acre expanse, worth a look if you have any energy left. However, if you stay away from houses, don't dig clams, keep moving along, and generally be discreet, you probably won't be hassled. Note that beaches can be privately owned in Washington State, and technically you are trespassing on someone's property much of the way from Dash Point to Saltwater. The beach is very flat and can be 1,000 feet wide at low tide. Take this section slowly and don't get frustrated.you will get there eventually. Dash Point consists of 398 acres including 3,301 feet of saltwater shoreline on Puget Sound. The final two miles to Saltwater is over rough cobblestone beaches, which are tedious to walk on. Explore 8 miles of biking trails and 11 miles of hiking trails at Dash Point State Park. Allow at least 2 hours and start well before low tide if you want to try this. If the tide is very low, -2 feet or lower (such tides occur in midday April through August), you can walk north all the way to Saltwater State Park, about 6 miles.
